HIGFLY GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING – Month 12

Between 12th – 13th January 2022 the HIGFLY General Assembly Meeting for Month 12 gathered all members of the HIGFLY consortium together online to discuss the project´s progress and plans going forward to align the work package activities and ensure effective collaboration.

Many technical aspects were discussed and debated regarding the selection of catalysts and process conditions for the synthesis of furfural and bio-oxygenates; the most effective solvents and membranes; and the best process for the valorisation of light oxygenates. The Feedstock Workshop, led by IFEU, is now planned for February where biomass feedstock, biorefinery concepts, co-products, process development and the Life Cycle Assessment will be discussed.

The project is still in its early stages, however, it was acknowledged by the Project Co-ordinator Dr. Fernanda Neira D´Angelo that the next six months will be a busy and fruitful period. Significant progress and the emergence of initial results are expected and Work Package 6 leader Kneia has put forward a strategy to ensure the most effective communication and dissemination of the project´s development and results.
